How to Wash Your Makeup Brushes

Who would we be without our makeup brushes? Because of this, it’s important to keep them clean to prevent bacteria and buildup. Cleaning your brushes on a regular basis will also help to extend their life. We know it’s important to take care of our makeup brushes, but, you may be asking, what is the best way to wash them at home?

Rinse with Warm Water | The first step to cleaning your makeup brushes is to gently rinse them with warm water. This will aid in removing any lingering makeup before you break out the soap.

Utilize a Brush Cleanser or Soap | If you don’t have a brush cleanser on hand, no worries! You can try using a gentle soap in its place. Just make sure you’re not using regular soap as it can try out the bristles. Baby shampoo is a great alternative in this situation as it won’t irritate your skin or your brush’s bristles.

Scrub | Once you’ve found your cleanser or soap, begin to scrub the brush to ensure you’re removing any additional buildup. Try to avoid the base of the brush as this can cause the glue to come loose over time.

Dry | Once you’ve completed the above steps, you’ll want to restyle your brush as scrubbing can alter its shape. Don’t leave your brush on a towel to dry as this can cause bacteria to grow. It’s better to let the brush head hang off the side of the counter to make sure it dries properly.

Washing your brushes will not only extend their life but also help keep your skin clear. Do you have any brush cleaning tips you’d like to share with us at Robert Fiance? Let us know in the comments below. If you’re ready to turn your beauty dreams into a career, call us today!
