Top Five Fall Foods for Fantastic Skin & Hair

Fall is here! By now you’ve probably broken out your favorite pair of heeled boots and every knit scarf you own! With winter just around the corner, it’s important to remember to take care of your most important beauty features: skin and hair. During the winter it’s easy to let skin go dry and for hair to become brittle with it all bundled up in your favorite hats. Lucky for us there are plenty of healthy foods that are in season this time of year that can help you keep your supple summer skin!

Cranberries

We’ve known for a long time that cranberries are one of the ultimate superfoods! Not only is it packed with loads of different vitamins and minerals for a nutritional boost, cranberries can help prevent premature aging of the skin. Cranberries are a great option for the fall harvest season, but if you don’t love cranberries, blueberries are a good substitute.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are the perfect seasonal snack! They’re tasty and are easy to make at home if you don’t want to buy them pre-baked at the store. Pumpkin seeds are fantastic for healthy hair because they are loaded with different vitamins that contribute building strong hair shafts. On top of that the seeds have lots of vitamin C which helps to produce a healthy amount of your naturally-occurring skin oils.

Squash

Squash are one of nature’s miracle foods! They are fantastic for your skin, especially for the skin under your eyes. They are full of building block vitamins that help to strengthen skin and build collagen. Squash include a large variety of different vegetables, like zucchini or spaghetti squash. They can all be cooked in countless ways to make getting healthy skin easy!

Spinach

Your mom will be so proud of you for eating this! She wasn’t wrong about it being good for you; spinach offers a huge number health benefits. Not only is it high in iron just like mother used to say, it gives plenty of vitamin C and lutein, which helps keep your eyes healthy and sparkling. Not a fan of spinach? Toss them in a pan with a tablespoon of oil, squeeze half a lemon into it, and finish them off with a sprinkle of salt for a zesty flavor that is still healthy!

Oats

Oats are abundant in fall, and can be used in so many ways! Whether you eat oats as breakfast cereal or in desserts, your hair will thank you for having them! Oats are rich in nutrients like zinc, magnesium, and potassium, all of which contribute to stronger hair. If you don’t get enough of those nutrients your hair could become more brittle and prone to breaking.
